ayu is probably my all-time favorite artist, i discovered her music in the middle of 2017 when i was searching for new artists on last.fm, the first song i heard was boys and girls and the first album i heard was a best! it took some time to me to get used to her style and voice cause i had never heard anything like it, after a couple of months i listened to other albums of her and then i truly started to fall in love... i realized how her songs were so diverse, intense lyrics and great performances, i mean.. she's the empress for a reason right.
♥ favorite remixes
something i've been really obsessed about ayu for a while now is her remix albums, she has such an extensive career and so many things to cover but i think that making a list of my favorite remixes will be ok for now, if you don't know much about ayu's history with remixes i recommend this post.i just love how well the trio can work together, three amazing and brilliant minds creating music and somehow managing to deposit their personalities without sounding off, also, their side projects and solo careers are amazing, since their career is so extense i'm always discovering new stuff from them.
momoe is also one of the many artists i discovered during quarentine, her legacy on the idol scene is so visible and even 40 years after her retirement she's still a big image for j-pop in general and a role model for younger artists, i love how she was able to mature her sound and developed her career while growing up and end it in the best way possible.
akina was one of the first showa idols i discovered, i don't remember exactly how but she was super important for my interest in showa era music, her debut single, slow-motion, is one of my favorite debut songs actually, i love how it sounds nostalgic and melancolic but yet not sad, her 1986 album 'fushigi' is one of my favorite j-pop albums, the atmosphere is so well done, and i also love how cute she is (♡°▽°♡)
this woman is a genius.. i love the aesthetic and her persona so so so so much, it combines everything i love, alcoholic sad synthpop with cute visuals (´ ω `♡) and lots of pink.. she made everything 2020 is trying to do 15 years ago.
in my opinion, musically, they are the best boygroup right now, their songs includes a lot of brass and funky elements, i love it so much, they are the perfect package, great songs, great visuals and charismatic members.
